Let Me Not Speak

Let Me Not Speak
When the words
Are messengers
Of hurt
Purposed to inflict suffering
By multiplying cuts
To every scene
Of any individual’s
Played out feelings
Ripping
And then letting
Blood.
It pours
As life ebbs
And a head hangs,
Eyes dim
And shoulders sag.
If this will be
The outcome
Of my lips moving
May they lose all
Mobility

Let me not speak.

When the motives
Are darkly shrouded
In insincerity
And false fondness
Prompting
Expressions
Starved of substance
Pumped full
With Eloquence.
A parade
Of manipulation
Successfully guised
As inspiration.
If from my depth
That uttered
Never echoes,
If in blindness
I repeatedly command
‘Follow!’
May all who come
My way
Be deafened
Or
May such a lying heart
Be moved
To stillness.

Let me not speak.

When this mind
Is tainted
With hideous shades
Of arrogance;
If a splash
Of deceit
Has somehow become
Definitive
Of the picture of me
May I never find
An audience
To regale with tales
Founded upon
Lies
And foolishness.
Let eyes turn away
From the smears
Wrongly dubbed
Art
Until renewal
Happens
To my unseen parts…

Let me not speak.

When my speech
Is bursting at the seams
With vanity laced themes
Left to loiter
My mind
Over years
Void
Of understanding.
Squandered-
Sight’s gift
On the fleeting visions
Within tangible reach.
When the filth
So long brewed
In flesh
Not yet subdued
Threatens to bubble
Out
In a flood
Further flawing
This tongue,
Then
Let it fall off
And be floored
By convictions
Of truth
And wisdom,
Unless
I don’t listen
Then…

Let me not speak.

Hate is easy, love takes courage. Jesus is everything. Ask me why.

    I choose not to speak

    Let my tongue
    be bridled
    Let me not find
    a towering multitude
    that will dance to
    my swaying lies
    of subconscious
    and sour tales
    told my ancestors
    in time past
    whose ghosts
    still haunt our tongues…

I will choose not to speak.

      Aiyaiyai, what a lovely comment/impromptu. 😀
Thank you so very much for sharing. Yes, indeed the prayer is already answered in the provision of free-will so we should ‘choose’ not indulge in that we pray against.
      Blessings!
