“Ha ha, oh my God! Kwiksie, what kind of girl are you!?”

I looked at him, amused.
He wasn’t expecting a reply.
The question was clearly rhetorical.
But if he asked there must be reason why…

“If you’d really like to know then I’ll tell you.
I talk a little fast so – keep up.
For starters I know you weren’t serious
But since I’m who I am
You’ll get a detailed response.

I’m the kind of girl who likes respect
The kind of girl who always says please
I’m the kind of girl
Who doesn’t mind greeting elders
In the middle of the street
On her knees.

I’m the kind of girl
Who really loves smiling.
The kind of girl who can always play!
I’m the kind of girl who likes kept promises
So if you always lose yours,
I’ll walk away.

I’m the kind of girl who’s not easily beaten
The kind of girl strengthened
By joy.
I’m the kind of girl who
Daily falls in love
With Christ…
The kind who lets Him write her story.

I’m the kind of girl with
Very active tear ducts,
The kind to make ceremonies
For dead pets.
I’m the kind of girl who loves to gym and do sports
And yet sees food
As more precious than all of that.

I’m the kind of girl with whom you can share your burdens
I’d like to be a counselor,
Did I ever tell you?
I’m the kind of girl who’s sensitive
More often than not
-And, if you’d let me,
The kind who’d try helping too.

I’m the kind of girl who fights for her friendships
The kind not ashamed to beg and cry.
I’m the kind of girl who’s friendly, jovial and free
With flaws
That’ll be fixed
As the days go by.

I’m the kind of girl who loves the rain
The kind who’d sing to the moon
And grin at the sky.
I’m the kind of girl
To gush over God’s genius artistry;
Forget the beholder all right-
Beauty lies in the Creator’s eye.

I’m the kind of girl who lives
Anticipating the good.
The negative can be faced, influenced or swerved.
The kind of girl
Ever aware of the evils in the world
Yet to whom ‘realism’ equals faith
In the God she serves.

I’m the kind of girl who knows she doesn’t know everything
While staying thankful for all the needless
She may have missed.
The kind who isn’t afraid to be vulnerable,
Willing to learn and grow
As much as she breathes.

I’m the kind of girl who trusts cautiously
One not easily swayed by the wind
From downpours of half-truths
And true lies.
I’m the kind of girl who gives
Second chances
To the very people
Who’ve made her cry.

I’m the kind of girl who likes to talk
Really though, communication is our friend.
The kind of girl equipped
With both speed and endurance;
Were it not for sleep,
Our conversations may seldom end.

I’m the kind of girl who believes she’s simple
The kind most may describe as weird
But knowing my principles
Makes me pretty predictable-
There really is no need to be ‘scared’.

I’m the kind of girl who’d sit to write
A fifteen-stanza poem to a rhetorical question.
But I’m also the kind, who’d prefer lunch,
A stroll
And talking.
Because to her,
Discoveries are sweeter
When made in person.

I’m that kind of girl.”
